SCIENCE LABORATORY RULE
General Rules:
Always be respectful of others. This includes being polite to your classmates, lab assistants, and teachers.
Use appropriate language. Avoid swearing, offensive language, and personal attacks.
Follow the instructions of the lab assistant or teacher. This includes arriving on time, completing assignments, and following all safety guidelines.
Keep the school clean and tidy. This includes put your belongings away and disposing of trash properly.
No food or drinks are allowed in the lab. This is to help prevent spills and damage to the equipment.
Do not use the computers for personal reasons without permission. This includes checking personal email, playing games, or browsing social media.
Do not download or install any software without permission. This includes unauthorized programs, games, or music.
Be mindful of the time limit. Laboratory time is limited, so please use your time wisely.
Safety:
Do not eat or drink in the lab. This is to help prevent spills and damage to the equipment.
Do not touch the electrical cords or outlets.
Do not run in the lab.
Report any accidents or spills immediately.
Proper Lab Attire:
Closed-toed shoes are required.
Long hair must be tied back.
Safety goggles and gloves must be worn when necessary.
Lab Equipment:
Use equipment only as instructed.
Do not use equipment that is damaged.
Report any malfunctioning equipment to the lab assistant or teacher.
Chemical Safety:
Read the label of any chemical before using it.
Know the hazards of the chemicals you are using.
Never mix chemicals unless you are sure it is safe to do so.
Dispose of chemicals properly.
Emergency Procedures:
Know the location of the nearest fire extinguisher and eye wash station.
Know the emergency evacuation procedures.
Report any injuries to the lab assistant or teacher immediately.
Consequences of Breaking the Rules:
Warnings: Verbal warnings will be given for minor offenses.
Loss of privileges: Students who repeatedly break the rules may lose their lab privileges.
Disciplinary action: Serious offenses may result in disciplinary action, such as suspension or expulsion.
